Spring/Summer MakeUp Trends

If you have read my previous posts, you may remember I touched on some spring/summer makeup trends in my post ‘MakeUp Trends and How To Tackle Them‘. However, there are more trends for the upcoming months, and I wouldn’t want you to miss out on them.

Girl with Sping/Summer Makeup

Think Pink

Why?

Pink is said to be the colour of the summer season, so I recommend you embrace this timeless feminine shade. The look I am going to be sharing with you will see me follow in Dolce and Gabbana’s footsteps with a fuchsia hue lip.

However, it is also important to take into consideration which shades of pink best suit your skin tone. For example, deep rose hues look stunning on dark skin tones and pastel pinks complement fair complexions the best.

What Products To Use?

BeautyCounter Lip Conditioner in Peppermint, followed by BeautyCounter Colour Intense Lipstick in the shade Garden Party.

How To Create The Look?

Before applying your lip color, it is important to prepare your lips. To do this I apply the BeautyCounter Lip Conditioner in Peppermint. I think it is essential for your lips to be hydrated before applying a statement color, so that it can glide on smoothly.

By preparing your lips it will also prevent the color from bleeding and the lipstick from cracking on your lips.

Grab The Glitter

Why?

Don’t think that glitter is just for the kids, put your grown-up take on it for a gorgeous summer look.

How To Create The Look?

To begin with, you should create a neutral base on the eye, to do this I like to use a shade which is closest to my skin tone. I would select shade Suede from the BeautyCounter Velvet Eyeshadow Palette – Classic.

Then select a glitter eyeshadow from one of the mentioned palettes. Apply it to the centre of your eyelid with the all-over eye brush. These eyeshadows are very pigmented so add in small amounts and build up – it is easier to add more product that it is to take away.

To avoid any fallout from the glitter I would set the eye look with the balancing mist.

Get Your Glow on

Why?

An ongoing makeup trend I hope will never end, who doesn’t want to look like a golden goddess?!

To get the glowing bronze look we all desire, apply bronzer on your cheekbones and around the outline of your face using the BeautyCounter Powder Brush to apply.

Then take the highlighter stick and apply this to the high parts of your face, which are the centre of your nose, below your eyebrows and above your cheekbones.

For extra glow, sweep a golden eyeshadow over your lids, the highlighter and glitter in your eyeshadow will create a stunning glow in the sunlight.

Barely-There Base

Why?

This look has been a clear trend on the runways at fashion week, less is more. Professional makeup artists are only applying coverage where it is needed, focusing on enhancing features.

To create this look it is important to have a regular skincare regime to follow, this helps to create a flawless base. After applying your skincare products allow them to fully absorb.

You can then grab a concealer and apply it only where it is needed. This is under your eyes, around your smile lines and where you may have any blemishes.

To apply your concealer, use your fingers as the tool for a more skin-like finish. To enhance your features, apply mascara to your eyes, ensure each lash is coated.

Alongside, a blush in a natural looking hue and use a brown eyeliner or eyeshadow (I think an eyeshadow creates a more flattering look) to enhance the eyes. If you choose to use eyeshadow like me, I would recommend using the precision brush to avoid any fall out from the product.

Underliner Is Back

Why?

We got a sense of 90’s nostalgia in recent catwalks, with underliner making a comeback. This look has been displayed in several ways, both subtle and statement. Ashley William’s models had a thick line of black eyeliner framing the eye. Whereas, Dior kept it simple with a thin line of black eyeliner in the waterline.

Although I appreciate the boldness of the models on Ashley William’s runway, the thick liner is not something I would personally wear or feel I could pull off. However, I am open to reintroducing a thin line of black liner to the waterline.

When applying this look, I would do this step before applying the rest of my makeup, as pressing on your face to apply the liner would ruin any face makeup. It is personal preference whether you choose to use a liquid or pencil eyeliner. It depends on how intense of a look you are going for, to have better and buildable control over the intensity I would recommend using a pencil.

In Conclusion

I hope you have learnt some new tips from these spring/summer trends I have shared with you. Out of the looks I have shared, my favourite one is the Barely-There Base, as many of you know I prefer a natural look so this is a look I am keen to use regularly. Which one is your favourite trend?
