We all deserve to be pampered, but we often don’t have the time or even the funds to go to a spa. So in this post, I’ll be sharing my guide to creating a relaxing sanctuary from the comfort of your own home. Having your own home spa can yield multiple benefits!
Create A Relaxing Atmosphere for Your Home Spa
This is great to do when you have an evening alone, or even better with a group of friends to share it with. To do this you will need spa sounds, find them by searching the web for the sound of the rainforest, waves or a waterfall soundtrack – there are hundreds to choose from. To ensure you can fully switch off from the world put your phone (and your friend’s phones if you’re with them) in a box away. Finally, to finish the relaxing vibes light a few candles and dim the lights.
Choose candles known for there relaxing properties, such as lavender or Eucalyptus. Peppermint and Jasmine scents are also known to reduce stress. In addition, to the scents helping you to relax the flame also helps to soothe us as the soft illumination of the flame helps us to become calmer and fall into a meditative state.
Treatments
When it comes to treatments, I find homemade is always best. The treatments are natural, and you are ensured there are no toxic chemicals – which can be found in some store brought products. It also fun to make your own products, especially if you are making them with a group of friends.
Face Masks for your Home Spa
You couldn’t possibly recreate a spa without a face mask, follow one of these face mask formulas for baby soft skin. You will find that most of the ingredients for these masks can be found in your kitchen pantry too.
Banana Face Mask
Bananas have many health benefits due to them being packed with vitamins and potassium. Bananas can help to achieve a glow and reduce dryness as they are unbelievably moisturising – this is perfect as the colder months approach.

- One tablespoon of water
- One tablespoon of honey
Method:
- Mash the bananas using a fork until a paste is formed.
- Add the water and honey and mix until a smooth consistency is achieved.
- Apply the mask using a make-up brush.
- Leave the mask on for fifteen minutes.
- Rinse off with warm water and gently pat your face dry.
Oatmeal Glow Face Mask
This mask is full of beneficial ingredients, oats are known for there anti-inflammatory properties and therefore being suitable for those of us with sensitive skin. Honey is highly moisturising due to its humectants properties which draw in moisture from your environments. Turmeric has antioxidant properties which can help to reduce pigmentation. Lemon juice contains vitamin C, which can give skin the glow we all desire.
Ingredients:
- Half a cup of oats
- One tablespoon of honey
- One teaspoon of turmeric
- Half a teaspoon of lemon juice
- Water as required

Eyes
Soothe stressed eyes with tea bags. Choose chamomile if you have them, as it is naturally anti-inflammatory. This will help to reduce puffy eyes and dark circles. Place two tea bags in boiling water for five minutes, squeeze the excess liquid from the tea bag and place the bags in the fridge until they cool – this is usually after around six minutes. After, you have removed the cooled bags from the fridge place them on your eyes for ten minutes: when you take them off, your eyes will feel rejuvenated. You can also use the excess water from the tea bags as a relaxing drink whilst you wait for the tea bags to cool in the fridge, who doesn’t love a multi-use hack?!
Feet
We often spend a lot of time on our feet, so they deserve to be treated.
