We often (sometimes on a daily basis) get ready in a hurry. In this post, I’ll be sharing my tips, tricks and go-to products, which will help disguise the fact that you got ready in ten minutes. Fabulous, and not flustered is the motto.
The 7 Steps to Getting Ready in a Hurry:
- Plan Ahead
Whether you know you’re going to be in a rush or not, it is best to prepare for the day ahead before you head to bed the night before. To do this, pack your bag with all the essentials you’ll need for the following day. If you sometimes struggle to remember everything you need, a good idea is to make a list, which you can refer to and use as a checklist.
Secondly, and the most important one for me. Is to plan your outfit for the next day – you do not want to get into the situation of feeling like you have ‘nothing to wear’ when you’re in a rush. However, if you’ve had a tiring day and passed out before you’ve had time to plan your outfit – this happens.
When it comes to your outfit choose a one-piece outfit such as a dress, jumpsuit or playsuit, by choosing a one piece you can cut avoid the fuss when it comes to getting dressed.
If you choose an outfit that is one piece, you will eliminate the additional complications of, firstly, having to coordinate multiple items of clothing into a complete outfit that works together. Secondly, having to physically put on more than one item of clothing in order to get dressed (underwear being an exception, of course).
- Simple Skincare
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know maintaining my skincare routine is important to me and is something I do twice a day. Most days I assure I have enough time to complete my routine before heading out of the door. But of course, I do have those days when I just do not have time for the full routine.
In those cases, I simply cleanse my face using the BeautyCounter Nourishing Cream Cleanser and apply my favourite moisturiser.
The moisturiser I currently like to use is the BeautyCounter Nourishing Day Cream, it is lightweight and hydrating without leaving my skin feeling greasy.
- Effective Make-Up
If any make-up is required at all, which it often is, I like to keep it simple but effective. To put this into action, I simply apply the Touchup Skin Concealer Pen under my eyes and on any blemishes. Alongside sweepings of bronzer over my cheekbones, the frame of my face and on my nose – for a sun-kissed look.
I finish the look off with lashings of Lengthening Mascara, which opens my eyes up and makes me look awake – probably more than I am feeling.
If even that short process seems too time-consuming for you, opt for a bold red lip, it puts the focus on your lips and fools’ people into thinking you’re wearing a full face of make-up when you only spent a few seconds swiping it on! Multi-use products are a favourite of mine when I’m in a rush, I often pack them in my bag to finish my look off on the way.
The products I use are BeautyCounter’s Powder Radiant All Over Bronzer, this doesn’t just give me bronzy glow on my cheeks. I also use the bronzer to create an eyeshadow look using the precision brush, this brush is another multi-use product that I use alongside the bronzer to create a smoky look below my lower lash line instead of eyeliner.
- Quick Hair-Do
Washing, drying and styling your hair can take up a lot of time, and will add a lengthy process to your morning routine. When I’m in a rush, or if I’m limited when it comes to tools, I like to keep the style as simple as possible. Why not recreate Megan Markle’s messy bun, if it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for me!
Or if that’s not for you, why not refer to my previous post about ‘Hairstyles In The Heat’ once you have mastered the techniques of these styles, you can achieve them in no time. A bonus is that a mirror is not required for any of the styles, so you could even create them on the go.
- Remember To Eat
If you don’t have time to sit down for a proper breakfast. It is important that you do not lose out on the nutritional benefits of breakfast completely. Grab something that you can eat while you’re on the move. I would not recommend you get into this habit for the long term, but occasionally it won’t hurt.
However, you should take the time to look after yourself, especially by taking the time for ‘the most important meal of the day’. Eating breakfast will ensure your blood level sugars remain stable throughout the day; it will also help boost your metabolism. In addition, to the nutritional benefits of eating breakfast by making time for this important meal, it will also help with your concentration and productivity – hopefully this will help with your leaving your keys on the side again?!
A meal I often like to prepare and eat on the go is Overnight Oats, it is packed with nutrients and as it is homemade it will be better than a sugary and processed cereal bar. You make them the night before in a jar or container that you can take with you.
To make the overnight oats you simply combine half a cup of rolled oats with half a cup of either milk or yoghurt (I prefer yoghurt for a thicker consistency). You can then add whichever toppings to this, I like to add honey, chia seeds and berries.
- Don’t’ Rush
It sounds counterproductive when you’re clearly on limited time but take your time otherwise you’re likely to get flustered, which will only lead to you making mistakes or forgetting something. You don’t want to use your valuable time going over things twice, as this will cause you to take twice as long to get ready.
I hope this guide helps to optimise your morning rush!
